Dr. Annemie Behr is a senior lecturer in musicology at the University of South Africa. As a musicologist, her research focuses on Jewish musical cultures in South Africa. Her PhD dissertation, submitted to Stellenbosch University in 2019, is entitled “Jewish Musical Life in Twentieth-Century South Africa: Constructing History from Music Reportage.” Methodologically, she is versed in Electronic Content Analysis. As an educator, Dr. Behr works towards curriculum transformation and decolonization in digital contexts of teaching Western art music in history and society. A scholar in the Digital Humanities, she engages with notions of radical empathy as a framework for embracing the human experience in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
